The Digital Opportunity Index (DOI) is a resource maintained by the United Nations International Telecommunication Union (ITU) that measures various information and communication technologies (ICT) indicators around the world and provides a comparison of technology and communications resources for various countries.
The Digital Opportunity Index analyzes various groups of indicators. These include items like the number of fixed telephone subscriptions per 100 inhabitants of the community, as well as numbers of mobile cellular telephone subscriptions per 100 inhabitants, and bandwidth per user. The Digital Opportunity Index also looks at the percentages of households with computers and Internet access.
