The Verizon FiOS high-speed Internet service provides you with a combination modem and router to access FiOS Internet service on your computer. By changing the default settings on this modem-router combination, you can use a secondary router in combination with your FiOS router.
Step 1
Disconnect all devices except your primary computer from your Verizon FiOS router. Turn your primary computer on and leave it connected to the FiOS router via a wired Ethernet connection.
Step 2
Press the "Reset" button on the back of your FiOS router for 10 seconds. The router will reboot. Your computer connected to the router will prompt you to create a new password for the router.
Step 3
Click the Windows "Start" button and select the "Network" option. Select the "Network (Home/Office)" icon and click the "Settings" button.
Step 4
Select "DHCP Server" from the "IP Address Distribution" subsection. Enter "192.168.1.11" in the "Start IP Address" text box and enter "192.168.1.254" in the "End IP Address" text box. Click the "Apply" button. Wait for the FiOS router to reset and then click the "Apply" button a second time.
Step 5
Power off your computer.
Step 6
Disconnect the Ethernet cable connected to your computer from the FiOS router and connect the cable to a LAN port on the secondary router. Connect another Ethernet cable from your computer to another LAN port on the secondary router.
Step 7
Power on your computer.
Step 8
Enter the IP address for the secondary router in your computer's Web browser. You can find this information in the user's guide for the secondary router. Enter the username and password for the router and click the "Log In" button.
Step 9
Select the "Internet Settings" option. Enter "192.168.1.2" in the "Router IP Address" field and enter "255.255.255.0" in the "Subnet mask" field.
Step 10
Select the "Disable DHCP" server option and click the "Save" button.
Step 11
Click the "Reboot" router button on your computer to reboot your secondary router.
Reboot your computer. You have now successfully set up a secondary router to work with your FiOS router.

Step 6 tells me to connect two ethernet cables from the computer to the second router. That's impossible, as most computers have only one ethernet port.
