Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications (OOPSLA) is an annual conference held by the Association for Computing Machinery's (ACM) Special Interest Group for Programming Languages (SIGPLAN). The scope of OOPSLA includes all areas of software engineering and application development.
OOPSLA is geared toward reporting presenting and sharing research on object-oriented programming (OOP) and modern technology innovations. Additionally, the conference facilitates discussion on ongoing technical results, experiences and experiments.
Since its first meeting in 1986, OOPSLA has encouraged the submission of papers that deviate from dominant field opinion and challenge existing value systems. When selecting a submission paper for presentation, criteria for judgment are novelty, interest, evidence and clarity.
OOPSLA is now part of Systems, Programming, Languages and Applications: Software for Humanity (SPLASH) - a larger discussion group. SPLASH also represents other conferences, such as the Dynamic Languages Symposium (DLS) and the International Lisp Conference (ILC).
